such a beautiful fusion of organic & electronic sensibilities. one of the most playable albums i can think of. so innocuous, yet so groovy!
Here drum-machines and synths merge effortlessly with more traditional instruments like pianos and strings.
It is balanced between an introverted expression and a more outward-looking experience, while an ongoing alternation between melancholy and optimism adds a tinge of nostalgia.
This is enhanced by the orchestration and production, which contain references to both new and old electronic music (i.e. glitch, techno, dub (-step) and ambient), yet at the same time pointing towards rock, jazz and classical music.
REVIEWS:
"The melodic excess, the atmospheric productions and the often rather dramatic sounds make 'Dynamo' a captivating and extremely interesting listening experience. " 6/6 - GAFFA (DK)
"With ‘Dynamo’, Rumpistol has made a flowing and totally inviting album that will captivate all but the most heartless of listeners. Its glistening melodics, brooding atmospherics, oozing basslines and complex micro-orchestral arrangements gel with such harmonic intent that the power of the end result is nothing short of enchanting. Highly recommended to all who require a shining beacon to get them through the dark depression of Winter." - 8.5/10 - Experimusic / KS (UK)
"A collection of elegantly constructed pieces that constantly slip between the fingers, refusing to stay still, writhing and wriggling around each other. Beautiful harmonic structures topple over spiralling rhythms, leaving you spell-bound." - Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner (UK)
"In drei Worten: Welch schöne Musik!" - Blumberg/DE:BUG (DE)
"Dynamo marks a triumphant return to the field, filled with warm electro-acoustic timbres and patchwork beat." - Boomkat (UK)
"SOUND PAINTER. Rumpistol is 30-year-old Jens Berents Christiansen's one-man band. On his latest album, he has loaded his rumpistol with intensity and electronic compositions, which unfolds one musical landscape after the other with amazing variation.
2008 started with the spectacular dubtronica release ’Falder baglæns ind i igår’ from SpejderRobot, and to draw a full circle, Rumpistol ended the year with an equally seductive album. It is less warm, but on the other hand it has several musical facets in its unfolded compositional process.
Complex rhythm patterns. The bass draws heavy patterns on all eight cuts, but it is in the many higher musical layers that Rumpistol's Jens Berents Christiansen exhibits his multifaceted talent for melodies, atmosphere and complex rhythm.
Somewhere, the sounds from a guitar rocks, another it's the violins that dresses the bass in a melancholy skin, and in a third passage, synthesizers crawl around the front of the mix and draw neat lines. And below it all, the bass is marked and deep like a mine shaft in Siberia, where a tool is sometimes dropped, creating a roaring of echoes in the underground system.
These kind of records with electronic compositions can easily be a test for the impatient listener who might be missing a change or a deep cut in the process. But Rumpistol draws with soft lines and lets his drama propagate slowly from below. Once you let your ears twist into Rumpistol's sound space, you won't get out so easily.
He constantly captures the listener and with impressive variation he manages to rotate his great sound universe as a quiet rotating prism under a vault of small incandescent light bulbs.
The result is both intimate in a dark and beautiful way, but also surprisingly and constantly stimulating. Especially for those who consumes electronica on the couch while they dream about the anonymous loneliness of the big city life." - 5/6 - POLITIKEN / Simon Lund (DK)

omg, this is awesome! i have been a huge tipper fan a long time, albums like broken soul jamboree & forward escape are rare electronic masterpieces. i have listen to this more than 100 times and i can detect always more layers...so ful of details in the background...a class of it's own, music and production are not from this world! dub orange
