about

12 exclusive tracks from Bjørn Svin, Karsten Pflum, Theodor Zox, Manual & Syntaks, Pellarin, Melk, Skyphone, Rumpistol/Sortie, Sofus Forsberg and others.

"Second release for the promising Rump Recordings label, after 2004's initial release, the debut album from Rumpistol. 'Rump Comp Volume One', is a collection of tracks from various newcomers (oRfeUs and Melk) and experienced, established artists (Manual & Syntaks and Prinz Ezo) showcasing the best in Danish electronic music.

Two main themes lead the course of the album besides the obvious electronic side of things, namely in the genres of hip-hop and dub. A settling influence of glitch and dub taint the rhythmic, pulsing basslines of Kriipis Tulo and the crunchy precision of Opiate-esque opener 'Hallo', by Sofus Forsberg. Yet samples and beat-heavy loops dictate the more upbeat offerings from Manual & Syntaks and the Boards Of Canada inspired 'Ms-Horn', by Karsten Pflum.

More individual tracks are the organic, man-made IDM of Skyphone and Zoffman's goofy vocal cut-ups, keyboards and indietronics of his 'Kaffe Smøger & The'. The latter of which bares an uncanny resemblance to the work of Ai Records artist, Yellotone.

With so many different styles at work, it's surprising to find how smooth-flowing and perfect the running order is, yet 'Rump Comp Volume 1' finds itself at the fore-front of current electronic albums. A beautifully crafted collection that improves and rewards with each listen." 9/10 (Angry Ape).

Rump Recordings was founded by Jens Berents Christiansen in Copenhagen in 2003 with an aim to release uncompromising electronic and electro-acoustic music.
The label does not attempt to focus solely on one genre but prefers to zoom in on the un-categorizable fields that emerge when artists start to experiment and push the existing boundaries of music.
