Kalaha consists of the gifted drummer Emil de Waal, Ibrahim Electric-guitarist Niclas Knudsen as well as the two established electronic musicians Spejderrobot and Rumpistol. 

Second part of Kalaha's 2016 trilogy is called ”Wahwahwah” - an onomatopoeia that hints at the guitar sound used throughout the EP.
Just like the first part of the trilogy ”Quarquaba” the band have looked to Africa and Asia for inspiration and have blended this with elements from electronic music and jazz-rock.

Using the track ”Aloo Gobi” as the starting point for the EP's intergalactic journey, the band starts with a slow groove that has a lot in common with Mulatu Astatke's Ethiopean funk as well as the organ driven tracks from The Doors. The catchy talk box theme is typical Niclas Knudsen material, revealing the guitarists background in the legendary Ibrahim Electric-trio.

Second track ”Nilaborre” (”Nile Perch”) written by Rumpistol sees the quartet heading into more cosmic territories, where the hypnotic drum and bass grooves blends with a desert-blues talk box slide theme before ending in an 303 driven acid krautrock explosion.

The closer of the EP ”Norsk Khat” is an IDM'ish tune written by Mikael Elkjær aka Spejderrobot. The track unveils a frenzied percussive trip alongside poetic halftime cascades of notes that will leave you split between moving your body to the music and floating in a parallel universe.

The music of Kalaha is a constantly changing amalgam, bursting with off kilter ideas, musical energy and precision without squandering its nerve and humour.
